Wines of Height
The wines from Salta are characterized by the altitude the vineyards are at, between 1.700 and 2.500 meters above sea level.
The region of Wines of Height presents a clear sky, pure and fresh mountain air and extreme temperatures (which rise to 38ºC during the day and drop to below 10ºC at night during summer), conditions that help to produce fine grapes of high quality with a unique identity in the world.
The place where this occurs is in the Calchaquíes Valleys, in towns like Cafayate, Tolombón, Yacochuya, Colomé and Molinos, optimal regions to grow diverse varieties such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat, Syrah, Bonarda, Chardonnay, Chenin and Sauvignon Blanc and Torrontés, the latter being the most iconic one. This white wine is characterised by its intense fruity aroma and flavour and recognized in the world as the distinctive wine of Argentina.
Today the vineyards in the Calchaquíes Valleys spread over 1.800 hectares.
